: This study was approved by the Chongqing Medical University Affiliated Second Hospital’s institutional review board. The whole study was carried out in accordance with the CCI clinical practice guidelines: Management of TIPS for portal hypertension and the Chinese guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of esophageal and gastric variceal bleeding in cirrhotic portal hypertension and Chinese guidelines on the management of liver cirrhosis. All patients and their families were told the surgical procedures, possible complications, and other relevant possibilities, and signed an Information Consent Form.
