: Two authors, CS (Embedded Fitness B.V.) and JW (SilverFit B.V.) may have competing interests as both organisations are commercial companies selling exergaming products. All participating day-care centres are, however, free to choose the type of exergaming products they want to offer (as long as they are about interactive cycling). Both authors are not involved in the data collection or in the data analyses. The other authors declare that they have no competing interests.
