: The study was conducted in accordance with the Helsinki declaration. The study was approved by The Ethics Committee for Medical Research in Greenland (Det Videnskabsetiske Udvalg for Sundhedsvidenskabelig Forskning i Grønland), ID: 2009-8. Requirements laid down in this approval were followed. Informed consent was waived when there was no direct contact with the residents. Informed consent in Greenlandic was obtained in one care home, in which direct contact with the residents was made. Information of survey aims and procedures was available to all care homes in Danish and Greenlandic. All had access to the ethical approval before participation, along with a resumé in Danish and Greenlandic, both in accordance with the ethical approval. In addition, the survey protocol and procedures were approved by the national health authorities of Greenland.
