Ethics approval and consent to participate
: This surveillance data analysis was considered to be part of routine surveillance by the Ethiopian Public Health Institute to early detect, communicate and respond to the increment of cases. The National reference laboratory is mandated to provide laboratory support for measles surveillance. We officially request measles surveillance data from 2005 to 2014 from Ethiopian Public Health Institute. This analysis is part of the routine surveillance activities. We therefore, did not seek additional ethical clearance and it is not needed. Informed participatory consent statement was also not obtained as it is not applicable for this activity.
