Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee at the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University and the Institutional Review Board (IRB) at the Chinese CDC for the protection of human subjects. The project approval number is 2013(2) -76. After explaining the study objectives in their own local language, which could also help these diarrhea patients to detect norovirus infection free of charge, verbal consent was obtained from all participants or their guardian prior to sample collection. The procedures for verbal consent were approved by all ethical committees.
