Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The analysis of the data gathered in the Mission Rabies 2016 Negombo vaccination campaign was approved by the Veterinary Ethical Review Committee at the University of Edinburgh, with reference 64/15. The vaccination program and data collection constituted a non-research public health campaign, and were approved by the Municipal Council of Negombo and the Commissioner. Informed verbal consent was obtained from the person presenting the dog for vaccination. When an owner could not be identified, dogs were vaccinated in accordance with the Government Public Health protocol.
