Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The stool samples from human patients with diarrhea were collected and screened in sentinel hospitals based on a national pathogen monitoring system, during our routine surveillance of <i>S.</i> Typhimurium. This study was approved by the ethics committees of the Academy of Military Medical Sciences (Beijing, China). Permission and written informed consent was obtained from patients for sample collection and subsequent usage for research purposes. Written informed consent for participants under 16 was obtained from the parents/guardians of the participants.
