Ethics approval and consent to participate
: All procedures followed were in accordance with the ethical standards. The study was approved by the current ethical committees of participant hospitals. This prospective cohort of patients with endocarditis was approved by the ethics committee (CEIC) of the original hospital that was launched by University Hospital “Virgen del Rocio”, and subsequently by the other committees of participating Andalusian hospitals (CEIC of University Hospital “Virgen de las Nieves”, Granada; CEIC of University Hospital “<i>Virgen de la Macarena”, Sevilla;</i> CEIC of Hospital <i>“Juan Ramón Jiménez”, Huelva; CEIC of</i> University Hospital, Regional “Carlos Haya”, <i>Málaga; CEIC of</i> University Hospital <i>“San Cecilio”, Granada; and CEIC of</i> University Hospital “<i>Virgen de la Victoria”, Málaga</i>)<i>.</i> These CEICs are integrated within the network of ethics Committes of Andalusian public health system (SSPA). CEICs are regulated by order/Decree 439/2010 December 14th of Andalusia. As it is an observational, non-interventionist study, it was decided as appropriate to request the verbal consent of each of the patients and that it will be included in each of the subjects’ medical records.
