: This study was approved by the Ethical Review Board of Nepal Health Research Council, Governemnt of Nepal (Reg. No 305/2016). The suspected patients were diagnosed for Scrub typhus as a part of the routine clinical care. The Epidemiology and Disease Control Division (EDCD) compiled the individual’s information in their database which was then provided to the research team after administrative approval. Hence, the research team did not have direct contact with the patients and hence, consent was not required with individuals. However, all patient records were anonymized before analysis by the research team. All procedures involving animals were carried out as per the Ethical Guidelines for the Care and Use of Animals in Health Research in Nepal and followed the regulation of local and national laws regarding the use of animals for research purpose.
