: Ethical approval was obtained from the institutional ethics review board of the University of Gondar and a permission letter was secured from each hospital administrations. The IRB of our institution has done a rigorous ethical review of the research (though data was collected only by reviewing the medical chart of patients) which is based on the national research ethics guideline customized from the different international ethical standards and declarations such as the Helsinki declaration. Since we used secondary data retrospectively, permission letter to access the data was obtained from each study institution as alternative to informed consent. Thus, informed consent was waived by the ethical review committee of the college of medicine and health sciences of the university of Gondar.. The patient’s confidentiality was maintained by omitting direct and indirect identifiers from the data collection tool.
