: The study was approved by the Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University Ethics Committee (approval number WDRY2020-K053). The ethical committee did not require that we obtain informed consent from the patients since we examined medical records, had no direct contact with the patients, and ensured that the data collectors abstracted and recorded the patient data anonymously. In addition, according to the national and local policies, patients with COVID-19 and their relatives need to be isolated strictly. Despite all this, patients or their relatives involved were asked for oral consent by telephone before enrollment. The oral consent was documented along with other data in the case report form when data was extracted. In the case of adults with cognitive decline, oral consent was obtained from a legal guardian or representative of these participants instead.
