: This project falls under Clinical audit therefore formal ethical approval is deemed unnecessary according to national regulations (Data Protection Act6 and Health and Social Care Act) (please also see the submitted supporting document from HRA website). The data we used is held within the UK Renal Registry which was the data collection was conducted within an ethical framework. This project does not involve any new treatment, experiment or practice, the use of control groups or placebo treatments, any disturbance to the patient beyond that required for routine clinical management, allocating patients randomly to different treatment groups, therefore our project does not require formal ethical approval. All methods were carried out in accordance with relevant guidelines and regulations. The data provided by the UKRR was collected and shared under permissions granted by the Health Research Authority’s Confidentiality Advisory Group under s251 of the NHS Act 2006 (ref: 16/CAG/0153) allowing for the processing of confidential patient information without patient consent.
