Ethics approval and consent to participate
: Approval for data-collection for this non-interventional trial is provided within the institutional treatment agreement and is approved by the local ethics committee of the Medical Faculty Erlangen. Written consent was therefore obtained as part of the routine admission procedure. Decision-making capacity of patients was assessed by the stroke neurologist in charge based on a face to face interview and the patient’s neurological status. In case patients were not able to consent approval was obtained from their legal representatives.
