: The use of data collected as part of routine care in the tumour cases was approved by the South-East Scotland Research Ethics Service (17/SS/0019). The control data was also collected as part of routine care and analysed as part of an approved quality improvement project auditing the DACT pathway. Both the Scotland Research Ethics Service and NHS Lothian determined that no formal patient consent was required because the study analysed data that is collected as part of routine clinical care. Study methods complied with the ethical principles set out in the Declaration of Helsinki.
