Declarations
:
: The study was approved by the internal review committee at African Population and Health Research Center and AMREF Health Africa ethics scientific research committee. (Approval ref.: AMREF-ESRC P532/2018). The research team carried out all the methods in accordance to the stipulated guidelines by the internal and external ethics review boards. The project team received training on ethics of conducting research on human participants, which included the Nuremberg code of ethics and guidelines from the declaration of Helsinki. Informed consent was provided to the eligible participants who were below 18 years and either pregnant or with a child less than 2 years regarded as emancipated minors and given information concerning the project objective, their right to participate, benefit, and risks of participating. The participants signed the informed consent upon their willingness to participate in the study and agreement to the use of data for dissemination such as in publications and future use in research.
: The research team administered a photo and video consent release form to the participants to get permission to use the images/figures. The broad informed consent indicated that the data collected will be shared/disseminated after appropriate anonymization. The participants agreed to this and signed the consent form. We, therefore, grant consent for the publication of the data and the images included in the manuscript.
