: Ethical approval for the study was obtained from the Faculty of Health Science Research Ethics Committee (HREC REF: 100/2016), University of Cape Town, preceding to the initiation of the study. Also, ethical clarification was also obtained from the Committee on Human Research, publications and Ethics (CHRPE) Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, (KNUST) School of Medical Sciences and Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Kumasi, Ghana and all appropriate research committees of the fertility clinic concerned. The ethical principles of the Declaration of Helsinki were strictly adhered. Informed consent was obtained from participants involved in the study. They were assured that beside voluntary participation, they also have the right to withdraw at any stage of the study without the risk of incurring any penalty and that confidentiality was guaranteed. Each participant was allowed to choose a pseudonym to preserve their anonymity and to ensure confidentiality.
