Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The human specimens study was approved by the Hospital Policial,., Ministerio del Interior, Montevideo, Uruguay (2010). As it involved only the study of existing archived human pathological specimens, and did not require subject identification, a written informed consent from the patients was exempt. The animal xenograft study was approved by the Ethics Committee for Animal Use Institute of Biomedical Science, at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil (protocol 134/10).
