: Informed consent was obtained from all donors as well as from all patients included in this report on clinical cornea transplantation. The reported data are from clinical transplantation and not from a clinical study. The whole procedure was in accordance with the regulations of the section “Tissue Transplantation and Biotechnology” of the German Ophthalmological Society. All data were collected anonymously and included donor age, sex, endothelial cells number, contraindications to corneal excision, presence of infections in the culture media and serology for HIV and hepatitis viruses. The Ethical Committee of Saarland (Ärztekammer des Saarlandes, Körperschaft öffentlichen Rechts, Faktoreistrasse 4, 66,111 Saarbrücken; ExternalRef removed; President: Prof. Dr. U.
