Ethics approval and consent to participate
: Ethical approval for this study was obtained from the Ethics and Protocol Review Committee of the College of Health Sciences, University of Ghana (CHS-Et/M.9-P4.3/2015–2016).Nasopharyngeal swab samples as well as demographic data were obtained from the participants after written consent had been obtained from the parents/guardians of the study subjects followed by a verbal consent from the children themselves (age ≤ 5 years of age). If a child whose parents/guardian had given written consent declined assent, the child was excluded from the study.
