: Ethical clearance was obtained from the research and ethical committee of the school of nursing college of medicine and health science (<i>Ref.no.-C/H/N164/7/2013</i>) on behalf of the Research Ethical Committee of University of Gondar. All methods were carried out in accordance with ethical and human rights standards. Ethical assent was obtained from the parents of the study participants and informed consent was obtained from all subjects and legal guardians of minor participants before the beginning of data collection. Confidentiality was kept by using codes rather than stating their names. Initially, they were informed about their right to withdraw from the study at any time of the interview process. When they were informed about their right to withdraw they agreed to leave the study whenever they are not feeling comfortable. At the end of the interview, patients positive for PTSD symptoms were linked to the psychiatry clinic.
