: The study was approved by the Ethics Review Committee of Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka (Ref.No.P/128/06/2019). Informed written consent was obtained from all participants prior to the study. Informed consent was obtained from the parent and/or legal guardian for participants less than 18 years of age. We did not include participants below 16 years of age in the study. At the time informed consent was obtained, none of the participants were on treatment for mental health problems and we considered them to be normal. Once the scores of the K10 and PHQ-9 questionnaires were analysed and when we found that some participants may have depression, we informed the participants and guardians and referred them for specialist care.
