: The primary data collection was carried out by a Canadian Research and Insights Council (CRIC) research agency (Leger), and they adhere to separate ethical standards and protocols for public opinion research [CitationRef removed]. For the primary study, the Leger firm complied with the public opinion research standards and disclosure requirements of the CRIC. These standards include but is not limited to survey participants being clearly told the purpose and subject matter of the survey, reminding them that all responses are confidential and anonymous, and providing a list of sources of supports and help they could access should they need them. Given that this was secondary polling data, and that other studies had been published using these data, and that results have been distributed in public realm especially during COVID, we did not seek REB approval to use these deidentified and anonymized data. As to administrative permission, we worked with the data holder, MHCC and CCSA, to access the deidentified and anonymized data.
