Ethics approval and consent to participate
: Written consent was obtained at visit one from all participants. Before commencing observations and in-depth interviews, women and CHWs were reminded of their prior consent and verbal consent ratified their participation. All women approached agreed to participate. Confidentiality was maintained throughout data collection, and results are reported with no identifying information to ensure anonymity. This research was approved by the Human Social Science Ethics committee of the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban (BE 101/14) and permission was granted by the KZN Health Research and Knowledge Management Directorate (HRKM 274/14).
