: The study involved retrospective data review of publicly available surveillance data collected during routine patient management by the Kenyan Ministry of Health (MoH). This information was abstracted from various hard-copy health records/registers (Anti-rabies vaccine and out-patient registers). Verbal permission to access the records was obtained from the health facility administrator in the following health facilities: Kilifi and Malindi county hospitals in Kilifi County; Kisumu county referral hospital, Muhoroni sub-county hospital, Nyakach county hospital and Nyando sub -county hospital in Kisumu County; Kitui county hospital, Mwingi sub-county hospital, Thaana Nzau dispensary and Zombe health center in Kitui County; Kathiani sub-county hospital and Mavoko health center in Machakos County and Aldai sub-county hospital, Chemase health center, Meteitei sub-county hospital, Mosoriot sub-county hospital and Nandi Hills sub county hospital in Nandi County. No ethical approval by an institutional ethics review board was needed and no personal identifying information was collected during data abstraction. The abstracted/collected data was properly stored and secured.
