: The study protocol was approved by the Institutional Review Boards at Duke University (Protocol 2017–0591-D0271) and the University of South Carolina (facilitated review, Pro00051213), USA, and the National Medical Research Review Committee at the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) in Tanzania (NIMR/HQ/R.8a/Vol.IX/2194).The informed consent process was conducted in Kiswahili. Trained research assistants used an approved informed consent form to describe study details to eligible individuals. Those individuals who provided written informed consent were enrolled in the study. For participants with low literacy, the consent process occurred in the presence of a literate witness and the participant’s thumbprint was requested in lieu of a signature on the consent form.
