: The design of the research governance model for the project will ensure that Indigenous research principles are embedded throughout the life of the project. The National Health and Medical Research Council guidelines for the ethical conduct of Indigenous research will guide all aspects of the research by enacting principles of spirit and integrity, cultural continuity, equity, respect, reciprocity, and responsibility [CitationRef removed]. Phase one of the study has received ethics approvals from Metro South Health Research Ethics Committee (HREC/2020/QMS/57760), NSW Aboriginal Health and Medical Research Council (1501/19), Central Queensland University (0000021644), NSW Department of Education (SERAP 2020164) and Queensland Department of Education (550/27/2319). Written consent to participate will be obtained from service providers, youth aged 16 years and over, and the parent or legal guardian of children aged 4–15 years. Details of managing specific ethical concerns will be developed in collaboration with PHC staff and investigators under the guidance of the Indigenous co-led project management group. Of utmost consideration is the safety of the children, and other collaborators.
