: All methods were performed in accordance with the relevant guidelines and regulations. For example, ethics approval for this study was granted by the University of Malawi, College of Medicine Research Ethics Committee (COMREC) (P.02/17/211). Informed consent was read to each participant in the study and written consent or thumb print was acquired. In this study Legal Consent from Guardian was not sought, apart from getting signed letters of authorization from the prison offices to support the implementation of the study in the prisons. The in-depth interviews were conducted by the lead researcher, Austrida Gondwe and the questionnaire was administered by two trained research assistants.
