: The TILDA study was approved by the Trinity College Faculty of Health Sciences Ethics Committee. All participants provided written, informed consent when they first participated in the study (at wave 1) and consent was repeated at wave 2 (the focus of this study), both written and verbal. Respondents in all cases were provided with copies of their signed consent forms.Ethical approval for all the ELSA waves was granted from the National Research and Ethics Committee. ELSA Wave 6 was approved by NRES Committee South Central – Berkshire (11/SC/0374). All participants provided informed signed consent to participate.Ethical approval for the HRS Study was obtained from the University of Michigan Institutional Review Board. Prior to each interview, participants are provided with a written informed consent information document.
