: Approval for all aspects of the study, including data collection and analysis, was obtained from the WHO Research Ethics Review Committee (Protocol ID: 0003040). Data were collected by Gallup in India, Laos, and Tajikistan. Gallup was responsible for obtaining local approvals, where necessary. A local IRB was required and obtained for India by the Social Research Institute (SRI): IRB Kantar. Tajikistan required government authorization, which was obtained. Laos did not have any independent ethics board to review surveys of this kind. Gallup obtained written consent from eligible participants, who were non-institutionalized people at least 15-years-old. Parental consent was obtained for participants < 15-years-old. More details about the data collection procedure can be found in the Gallup Worldwide Research Methodology and Codebook (11). WHO owns the data, which is not publicly available but can be shared upon reasonable request.
