The CNSC, in its leading role in the Italian and European context, is the main research, evaluation, control, regulation, training and information structure on chemicals, products and on articles to protect the health of consumers and workers. It also acts on behalf of the competent authority (Ministry of Health) as the interface of the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), of the European Commission and of the European Bodies and International Cooperation - Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), World Health Organization (WHO) - on chemicals and related products. The CNSC is the national reference for prevention and surveillance plans for dangerous exposures and chemical poisoning and for product control.Poison Centers are public health services recognized by WHO, European agencies (ECHA, EMCDDA) and the Italian legislation /National Health System. These Centers are emergency services that make specialist advice to all the callers (Hospital Units, general physicians, general public, etc.) for the management of all the exposures to toxic substances.
