: This study received ethical approval from Makerere University School of Public Health Higher Degrees Research and Ethics Committee and registered with Uganda National Council for Science and Technology (registration number HS695ES.) Administrative clearance was sought from the Kabarole district Local government. Written informed consent was sought from the study participants and from their legal guardian(s) where appropriate. For illiterate participants, consenting was conducted in the local language (Rutooro) in the presence of a witness and confirmed by the participant’s thumbprint on the written consent form. The study was carried out in accordance with relevant guidelines and regulations under strict COVID-19 guidelines as provided by the government of Uganda and UNCST.
