: A detailed ethical proposal including the tools and methodology for the study was submitted to the Nepal Health Research Council (NHRC). The NHRC review committee reviewed the proposal and granted approval on 13 March 2020, with Ref No: 1936, ERB Protocol No. 12/2020 P. Given that there were over 30,000 patient records, and many of those patients would not have been identifiable from the recorded information in any case, it was not practical to obtain consent from patients/parents of patients whose data was included in the study (as described, all data was pseudonymised). However, permission for utilising the data was obtained from the national Ministry of Health and Population (via the NHRC) and from each health post prior to data collection.
