: Before commencing the study, ethics clearance was obtained from the Commerce Faculty ethics committee at the University of Cape Town, South Africa (REF REC 2021/11/007). Prior consent was given by potential participants in the sampling frame to receive calls of this nature. All potential participants were informed as to the nature of the study (a telephone survey on individual opinions on COVID-19 and vaccinations). Subsequently only those who voluntarily agreed to be part of the study were included. Verbal consent was obtained, which was recorded. All calls were recorded with the participant’s permission. All information collected during the CVACS study was kept confidential and anonymous. The study was performed in accordance with the Declaration of Helsinki and all participants gave informed consent.
