: Because the data is aggregated and anonymized, approval by the Sierra Leone Ethics and Scientific Review Committee was not required for this study. However, permission was obtained from the Sierra Leone Ministry of Health for the use of the data for this study. The need for written informed consent was waived by the Ethics review committee of KIT Royal Tropical Institute, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. This waiver (S-188) was granted based on using only secondary, anonymized data aggregated at the district and national levels. The authors confirmed that the proposed research methods were carried out by the relevant guidelines and regulations stated in the waiver.
