: The ethics approval is deemed unnecessary according national regulations (Ley Reguladora de la Investigación Biomédica 9234). The survey was not a clinic research, was anonymous, opinion based, without identification markers and sent by email and social networks. The consent to participate was included in the email, and there wasn't any kind of reward, coaction or repercussion for the survey. If the consent was not given, the participant wouldn't have answered the survey. The Survey was questioned and improved in a Costa Rica Hernia Association meeting. In our country for this kind of studies we don't need legal or bioethics approval.
