Ethics approval and consent to participate

: The University’s Research Ethics Committee approved the study (RETH000811) and as the study grew, several major amendments and extensions (FER 1800; REF3034) were granted after University Ethics Committee attendance and defence. Classified as a service evaluation by the Health Service Research Authority, full NHS ethical approval was not required. However, the hospital-based projects were registered by the individual Hospital Trusts and granted approval by their Governance Teams. Research protocols, participant information sheets, and consent forms all confirmed that the study was opt-in, totally voluntary, anonymous, and in confidence. All participants gave written informed consent.
