: Ethics approval and consent were obtained by the ‘Ethics Committee of Hannover Medical School’ on November 22, 2019, for the main ImPAct study (Registration No. 8739_BO_S_2019). In terms of this study, no contact to subjects took place, and there was no study-related measure to subjects. Given to the retrospective study design, data analysis comprised solely LTC facilities’ records of deceased residents. All data were completely anonymized prior to the point of transmission to the study team, so that residents’ identity was fully preserved at any time. Therefore informed consent of deceased residents was waived by Hannover Medical School Ethics Committee. All participating facility managers gave their informed permission for the use of structural and anonymized nursing chart data, which they themselves filled in a questionnaire. The study was performed in accordance with the ethical standards of the Declaration of Helsinki (1964) and its subsequent amendments.
