: Our study was granted exemption from the Washington University Institutional Review Board given the voluntary nature of the survey and app use, the anonymity of survey participants, and the lack of potential for adverse impact on students’ opportunity to learn required educational content. Given this exempt status, written informed consent was not required, though participants were informed about the study procedures, anonymous data acquisition, and instructions allowing for opting out at any time. All study participants agreed to participate before the start of the study. All experimental protocols were approved by the Hospitalist Education Committee within the Division of Pediatric Hospitalist Medicine and Department of Pediatrics at Washington University School of Medicine.
