: Ethical approval for the study was granted by the Nelson Mandela University Research Ethics Committee (reference number: H18-HEA-NUR-018) and the Ghana Health Service Research Ethics Review Committee (reference number: GHS-ERC014/11/18). All methods were carried out in accordance with relevant guidelines and regulations. Participants agreed to partake in the study by signing the informed consent form, prior to participation. For participants who are illiterate, consent for participation in the study was obtained in the presence of a legal guardian. The study was explained to them in a language they understand, and legal guardian signed the consent form as a witness that the explanation was understood by the participant. All these were approved by the Research Ethics Committee of Nelson Mandela University (H18-HEA-NUR-018) and the Ethics Review Committee of the Ghana Health Service (GHS-ERC014/11/18). Furthermore, all participants granted permission for excerpts of verbatim quotations from participant interviews to be included in any publication stemming from the study.
