Ethics approval and consent to participate
: The intervention study was reviewed and approved by Uganda Virus Research Institute Research Ethics Committee and Uganda National Council of Science and Technology under reference number HS22ES. Administrative clearance was obtained from district health management teams, health facility in-charges, hospital medical superintendents, regional referral hospital directors, community leaders. Written consent was approved by the ethics committee and obtained from study participants.
