Ethics approval and consent to participate
: This paper reports on the preparation, training, support and implementation activities linked to the PACE study where NHS ethical approval was obtained on 10th September 2015 from NRES Committee North East – Newcastle & North Tyneside (Ref: /NE/0261). All participants were informed that the discussions and preparation activities formed part of the PACE project. All participants in the main trial provided informed consent to participate. However, we do not report any patient, family or staff data in this paper. The wider PACE study was registered at – ISRCTN14741671 (FP7-HEALTH-2013-INNOVATION-1603111) July 30, 2015. Appropriate ethical approval was obtained in all partner countries.
