Ethics approval and consent to participate
: Ethical approval was granted by University College Dublin Human Research Ethics Committee (Sciences) for the multi-phase study Promoting Assisted Decision Making in Acute Care Settings (PADMACs) for Care Planning Purposes (LS-18-73-ODonnell). The RRR (phase 1 of PADMACs) did not require ethical approval as the data was retrieved through a literature review. Reference panels provided anonymous meeting notes (containing no person-identifiable information) and considered as grey literature that informed programme theory. All organisations provided written consent to have their reference panel in the review and had the opportunity to review and validate the summary notes.
