: We obtained ethical approval from the National Health Research Ethics Committee of Nigeria (NHREC/01/01/2007-27/08/2018) and the Johns Hopkins University Institutional Review Board (IRB00008732). All methods were performed following the relevant guidelines and regulations. The National Health Research Ethics Committee of Nigeria and the Johns Hopkins University Institutional Review Board approved verbal informed consent from all participants, given the study setting’s low literacy rate. This is because uneducated participants may not understand a written informed consent due to their inability to read and write. After providing participants with the information at the beginning and obtaining permission to record the interviews, we repeated the same verbal informed consent process to ensure it was captured as part of the study transcripts.
