: The Swedish legislation on ethical review for research involving human subjects (SFS 2003:460) stipulates that it applies to “research involving the processing of i, personal data referred to in article 9 in the EU data protection regulation (sensitive personal data), or ii, personal data on offenses involving crime, criminal convictions, coercive measures or administrative detentions”. Interviews with professionals about their work are not considered to be sensitive personal data, unless it regards their health, welfare, political, religious beliefs, i.e. it is sensitive personal data. This project aimed at evaluating a medical model which the participants referred children and adolescents to as part of their occupation (i.e. social worker) during their work time. The interview guide only concerned their experiences of the working model. No personal details where collected or stored. This research could therefore be conducted without ethical review, but in accordance with the Helsinki declaration on the ethical principles for medical research involving human subjects. Thus, all participants received oral and written information about the aim of the research study, that participation was voluntary, they could withdraw, there were no known risk of participation and that no potentially identifying details would be presented in the results. At the beginning of the interview, the participants were notified that the interview would be audio recorded and had the option to refuse, although none did.
