: The ethics committee approved the procedure for verbal consent in accordance with the Swedish Ethics Review Act 2003: 460, § 17. The ethics committee was informed about the undocumented migrant’s situation and the fear they have of being identified by authorities and police and therefore not wanting to sign anything in writing. Therefore, verbal consent was accepted, otherwise it would be hard to recruit participants into the study. The undocumented migrants could state any name they wanted in the interview. Instead of a name, they were given an ID number by the researchers directly when the interview took place. Hence, no other documentation of the verbal consent was done than in the interview questionnaire and that data is stored at the University of Gothenburg.
