: The study was conducted according to the guidelines of the Declaration of Helsinki and ethics approval was granted by the National Rehabilitation Hospitals Ethics Committee. The National Rehabilitation Hospital Ethics Committee was satisfied that the assessment under Regulation 3(1)(c)(i) of the Data Protection Act (Sect. 36(2)) Health Research (Amendment) Regulations 2021 (SI 18/2021) of the data protection implications of the processing of personal data being carried out by the controller indicated a low risk to the rights and freedoms of individuals, and that the proposed research came within the exception for obtaining explicit informed consent from patients.
