Ethical approval was obtained from the Research and Ethics committee of the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital Enugu (Ref: UNTH/CSA/329/OL.5) and Ebonyi State Ministry of Health (Ref: ERC/SHOH/AI/050/18). Approval and consent were obtained from the school principals. Informed written consent was obtained from parents/guardians of adolescents aged 13 to 17 and older adolescents aged 18 years and above. Furthermore, a written accent was obtained from adolescents aged 13 to 17. Consent was obtained by signing the consent form after a thorough explanation, including the benefits and risks of participation, was given using the research information sheet, and understanding was established. Participation was voluntary, and respondents were informed that they were at liberty to decline to participate or withdraw from the study with no consequences to them at any time. Confidentiality was assured to participants, and personally identifiable information like names was not captured.
