: For the Ethiopia project, ethical clearance was obtained from the Ethiopian Public Health Association (EPHA) Research Ethics Review Committee (Reference #: EPHA/OG/166/21 dated April 16, 2021) and renewed for the end-line survey (Reference #: EPHA/OG/781/22 dated April 18, 2022). The study in Kenya was approved by the Amref Ethics and Scientific Review Committee (ESRC P949/2021), Population Council’s Institutional Review Board (Protocol 968), and the National Commission for Science, Technology, and Innovation (NACOSTI) granted the research permit. Written permission to undertake the study was obtained from the district/county health offices and health facilities. Informed verbal consent was obtained and all study participants were informed about the study’s purpose, benefits, and hazards, including their right to opt out and to respond to questions without consequence.
