: Ethical permission to conduct the study was granted by the West of Scotland Research Ethics Committee (WoSREC: 15/WS/0199). Informed consent was obtained from all subjects in relation to primary data. All methods were carried out in accordance with relevant guidelines and regulations. All participants in ICJ cohort had consented to have their data used for research purposes. The control groups had not, so eDRIS follow a dedicated protocol to ensure anonymity is maintained through a process of deidentification (see supplementary file). In brief, the data linkage process took place in NHS Scotland’s National Services ‘safe haven’, meaning the researchers only worked with anonymised data within a dedicated secure environment.
