Ethics approval and consent to participate
: Ethical and research clearance for the study was obtained from the Population Council’s Institutional Review Board, the National HIV/AIDS Research Committee in Uganda, and the Uganda National Council for Science and Technology. Individual written informed consent was also obtained from all participants before conducting the interviews. Household heads aged below 18 were considered emancipated minors, therefore did not require parental consent.
